I agree, he should come back because he didn't show the big, flashy plays like Queen did, but he probably won't because he still had a good, solid season and actually had more tackles than Queen. Queen shot past him this season, and the thing is he was leading Queen before this season having had a good previous season. But Queen blew up this season, and is now probably the leading LSU LB.

I think getting a degree and preparing himself for the world could be his best option. Then again he can always return to school and get his degree if he wants.

Jacob Phillips did not even receive a grade, indicating that he should stay “in a developmental league”.

doubt he gets much better in year 3 as a starter for us.

he'll get drafted in the mid to late rounds. prolly anywhere from rnds 3-5.

he's not un-athletic, just isn't at the high end. he could have a solid pro career even as a backup. make several million dollars, retire in his early 30s.

he'll be ok. this isn't a situation where he might go undrafted or rnd 7. he is what he is. a solid lber who everyone wishes was a little bit faster, but he's fast enough to play the position in the nfl.

If Phillips was fast and could cover he would be a round 2 linebacker. Queen will probably run a 4.4 at the combine. He’s fast and he can cover in coverage. Just need to work on finishing the tackle. He had a lot of missed tackles this year. But he made his money in the two playoff games. The kid ceiling is high with the attributes he has. They both could have probably made more money if they stayed. Queen probably could have been the first linebacker taken in next year draft.

I'm not sure how much more money he could have made if he stayed lol but I love everyone's expert opinion. It is not a guarantee he would of improved his stock much. Also not a guarantee he would of finished the season healthy or improved his stock at all. He's going to show up at the combine at 6'4 235 and if he performs well in the drills he will be drafted. If for some reason he doesn't, he will be an undrafted free agent and still make half a million per year. And the people saying he should of stayed to get his degree lol, stop. He has a chance to play in the NFL making more money than he would with a worthless degree. Also pretty sure LSU isn't going anywhere so he can return whenever he wants to get his education.

I think hes one that should have come back... He and Damone could have anchored the middle and he prob would have won some awards to help his notoriety a bit and earn his degree... maybe even worked a bit on his coverage skills and produce more film for people to see... I think he should have stayed for sure... would help him and LSU for sure.. Im wondering when the date is to go back on the declaration and if hes hired an agent..

It was decided on the Rant that Kwon Alexander would never be a starter at linebacker in the NFL.

It was also determined by the Rant that there was no way in hell he would ever play middle-linebacker in the league.

quote:

On December 31, 2014, Alexander announced on his Twitter account his decision to forgo his senior season and enter the 2015 NFL Draft

On May 12, 2015, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed Alexander to a four-year, $2.75 million contract that includes a signing bonus of $478,322.[17]

Head coach Lovie Smith named Alexander the starting middle linebacker alongside outside linebackers Lavonte David and David Lansanah.[20]

He made his professional regular season debut and first career start in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' season-opener against the Tennessee Titans and recorded five combined tackles and a pass deflection

Pro Bowl (2017)
PFWA All-Rookie Team (2015)

quote:

On March 13, 2019, the San Francisco 49ers signed Alexander to a four-year, $54 million contract that includes $27 million guaranteed.[35][36]

Yeah, so don't believe every expert opinion your read here.

For every one of those you have, how many are struggling to make a roster or have failed to do so?

Kwon was the biggest foot the Rant experts have stuck in their mouths. That I am aware of for a middle linebacker anyway.

I'm sure some are still sulking over some other predictions like Ben Simmons and I'm sure there are others.

Yep Phillips got bad advice. He could have made himself a lot of money coming back for his senior year.

I just dont see it, he has below average speed and is a box linebacker that doesnt fit great with today's game necessarily, he wouldnt improve anything by coming back, he's been a 2 year starter and very productive both years.

I'd love for him to come back but he's proven everything he can do and more.

This all doesnt mean he wont be drafted. I think he's easily a mid-round type pick, but there's a reason less athletic true big bodied MLBs arent as valued as they used to be in NFL.

Why didn't he get a grade? Did the coaching staff request a grade for him?
