No he won't. He earned his offer and will be on scholarship for as long as he's at LSU.

Besides Shelvin, there's not a better defensive lineman prospect in LA this year. This kid has a great work ethic and motor on the field with talent to match. Welcome aboard Aaron!

Why not have him as a walk-on and thus free up another scholarship for another player?
Since his dad is already on staff, simply add up the full cost of an athletic scholarship and then give that amount to his dad as a raise. Seems simple enough.

Cause he earned the Scholy. He paid the Iron Price.

But by making the dollars the same for his family, it would better that we end up with another scholarship to give to someone else, which would thus help the team.
Nice Greyjoy reference, btw.

While I'm happy he's made the right choice, I have to speak up against him taking a scholarship, if he in fact does so.
He's an in-state resident & his dad is 1 of the highest paid strength coaches in the country who just so happens to be at the same school. Money for college is NOT an issue.
Why not do the RIGHT/smart/team minded thing & "walk-on" to save that scholarship for another stud player that actually needs the scholly?
Yes, he's worked hard. Yes, he's "earned" it. But he's also in a far better position to help the program by both playing AND freeing up that slot.

Yes, let's start asking all recruits for their parents combined income and then just tell them they can walk on instead if they make too much.
I also have no idea why you worded your post as if it's Aaron Moffitt's choice. It sounds like you're blaming him and is pretty dumb to post on a board he probably reads.

So how about a guy like KJ Malone? I mean he's an in state kid too and his dad has made ten times what most people will ever see. Should we have told him to walk on too?

Wouldn't surprise me if he is a consensus 4 star on the recruiting sites before the end of next season. Now that he has committed to a school like LSU, the sites should take notice, start watching him closer and re-evaluate him. LIke some one said, he looked like the best player on the field in the state championship game.

Right. If you could get away with that, Saben and Bama would already have half there recruiting classes parents suddenly able to afford to and wanting to pay the way.

I'm not advocating for a socialism approch. But I am looking at this from a WINNING frame of mind.
Pro players have started taking millions of dollars less in their contracts to free up salary space for adding to their roster. In the same light, it can be done with recruits of this stature.
Additionally, the selflessness shown in college to open up space for another kid that "needs" the scholly & can help the program will be rewarded once he goes pro. An agent with 1/2 a brain can market his clientnot only to pro teams in negotiationsfor a strng contract but also build an excellent public perception around his character in terms of building a brand/endorsements.
Even if he doesn't go pro, we can pretty much bet he will be a coach. When his own recruits find out he's selfless & passed on a scholly to be in a better position for the program to be a winner-that point will pay off in spades over & over.
There's legitimatepy zero downside in him walking on instead of taking the scholly.

Apples and oranges, chief.
Nobody is talking about some random player whose parents have regular jobs.
The ONLY reason to ask him to be a preferred walk-on is that his father is already being paid very well by LSU. LSU could simply bump his dad's salary by the exact amount of the cost to attend and the family is not out of pocket one extra dime and we get an extra scholarship.
Win Win
