The other positions on a football team are obviously easier to find talent and let's face it all the star ratings stuff is simply wrong more than right. NFL rosters prove it to be true. Yeah I n he this post is obvious to many but I also see people act like signing a 5 star on the OL and DL shouldn't be that hard for LSU. Bama wins with line play. We finally have a good QB room with Howard in the wings. QB used to be our Achilles heel and now it's not. Half of a Bamas 5 stars are RB and Wideouts. LSU future is bright boys. Keep the faith!!!!!!

This is blatantly false. The wrongs just get more attention.

No one talks about Trevor Lawrence being the highest rated QB coming out of high school and still is leaving college. They just say he is an extremely talented player. One of the first things brought up every time someone talks about Justin Jefferson is he was a 3 star recruit.

Unfortunately, it’s not true. Teams who constantly finish at the top of recruiting are in contention. Alabama, Ohio state, Oklahoma. They’re always in the conversation and it’s a direct result of their constant influx of top rate recruits. Some of these player may not develop into top tier nfl prospects, but more times than not it’s in their favor.

Sometimes those 5 star D linemen slide thru the cracks and get pressure

It certainly has some flaws. The NFL draft has less players to evaluate, more tape and more money invested and still gets it wrong more than right.

Some players just stand out as studs and it is a big benefit when you can sign those types.

Bama has 7 - 5* committed

2 OT’s
1 DE
1 DT
1 CB
1 WR
1 RB

Additionally, the rate that 5 star players get drafted is very high. From 2000 - 2014, 53% of 5 star players were drafted. A 5 star recruit is a coin flip to make the NFL.

The reason we have struggled running the ball against Bama is because our mostly 4 star Oline cant block their mostly 5 star Dline. 5 star talent absolutely matters because guys like, difference maker, Burrow only come around once ever 15-20 years.

This guy uses the word lube so much it autocorrects line to lube

“Raul, ca you pick up some lube, I’m still sore from last night.”

People always say this and it’s flat wrong lol. 21 of the 32 players picked in the first round of the 2020 draft were 4 or 5 star recruits. This despite the fact that 4 and 5 star recruits make up only about 300 of the ~5000(!) total recruits given star ratings by recruiting services.

Let’s look at that again: the ~300 4- and 5-star recruits turned out 21 first round picks, the ~5000 3-star and below recruits turned out 10 first round picks, and the innumerable unrated recruits turned out 1 first round pick.

In other words, 4- and 5-star kids were *35 TIMES MORE LIKELY* to be taken in the first round than 1, 2, and 3-star recruits. Despite making up only 7% of star-rated recruits, 4- and 5-star recruits made up 65% of first round picks.

Anyone who says stars don’t matter is an idiot.

Offensive line is the position group I would rank last in terms of the necessity of getting highly ranked recruits. WR, DB, LB, RB and even DL tend to play to their rankings, but QB and offensive line are a crap shoot. That’s why so many NFL QBs and offensive linemen came out of lowly programs.

This is correct... LSU skill players and pipeline every bit as good as Alabama. Everything is about the line of scrimmage
