Ika left due to scheme change after Aranda left. I don’t remember why Palmer left. I think he got buried on the depth chart.

That’s a stretch.

Very plausible.

We’ve never had a shtty class, Ed O’s first class was #15 although not our standard. Les’s first class was 20 again though not our standard not shtty. CBK’s first class w/portal now calculated in was Top 5. 247 has us 5, #7 composite, On3 has us #6. The one thing CBK does is recruit needs and quality. Our OL is now comparable to any elite program in the country same as TE (young but stacked). We’ve lost out on some huge guys no doubt, we’ve slow played McKinley but I believe he has a chip against LSU because he developed late into elite status and before that he was the type of player Texas gets from Louisiana, good player but not elite so they were on him early and got lucky he progressed into elite and there’s probably hurt feelings that LSU didn’t go all in. Ward I just don’t think wants to go LSU, there’s always one or two it’s just that way. But on the other hand J Howard #1 n Minnesota, Womack #1 in Maryland, they left their state but also had every opportunity to choose closer to home programs in the Top 10. A prime example at this minute is Stamps a recruited DB that is showing out right now and really wanted LSU. I want the highest ranked players regardless of which state they come from and CBK is learning the landscape everyday. I wish he would be a little more cutthroat but we will never be able to outbid Texas or a$m regardless. If Frank cannot persuade Mack or McKinley to LSU with whatever means he has, surely you don’t think CBK can at this point in his LSU career. CBK has to prove it on the field. The highest recruit in state recruit we most recently missed on was Anderson 5* to Bama, he’s in a LSU uni playing for CBK. I’m not a wait til next year guy but 25 is setting up to be a program changing year from a recruitment standpoint but on the field also in 24. CBK had said himself we’re a year away even though he EXCEEDED anyone’s expectations and you’re a liar if u say otherwise. As far as Simmons to Texas, he was LSU’s Fournette. Make or break for Sark. We’ve got Caden right now, and Texas’s #1 player committed in Moore. I’m not naive to think there recruitment is over by a long shot. It’s an early commitment but it’s to LSU and there’s 30 other programs would kill to be in that position right now. I love this crewtn stuff but it is a roller coaster of emotions that our feelings or input as no meaning in it. We will be fine.

I wish someone would re-grade these classes 3 or 4 years later and see how accurate these top 10 signings classes are. USC, Texas, Oregon, Penn st., A&M never translate to on the field production but they do get guys drafted. Meanwhile Alabama, Georgia and Ohio st. normally do both. The transfer portal class ranking is just as important as the recruiting class rankings now days. You need to take the average of both each year.

When you lose around half your class, odds are, too many things could have went wrong.
Keeping kids in class, player development, player evaluation, etc all go into keeping together a roster.

That 2019 class set the program back three years. Thats got to be up there with one of the biggest bust top 5 classes anywhere, ever.

Coming off that championship season, the 2019 should have been one of our best ever.

Failing to capitalize on the greatest season of all time is a failure of epic proportions.

I'd love to see that too, but it might be hard for whoever does that to continue working in recruiting.

I can't imagine On3 would be too happy with someone who slammed recruit rankings for the top 5 classes every year.

no way of knowing, but guys like Ashton Stamps, Prean, Sampson, seem to have been under evaluated thus far.

What we don’t know is who was over evaluated, as the coaches don’t let out the info as to who is not impressive.

I've seen individual evaluators come back and do a then and now re-eval of the 5 stars. I'll look to see if I can find it, but doing just the 5 stars skews the view I'm their favor.
The top 30 is accurate more times than not, it's the 31-300 that is basically a crap shoot on the front end, and hind sight is always 20-20.
The point I'm trying to make is both that Louisiana as a state is criminally under rated, and our staff has earned my trust as far evaluations go.

If Kelly says something like we had player A rated highly in our board, but he's rated as a 3 star, I tend to believe Kelly.
