e has stated he wants to play RB in college, so if they dont let him pay RB, I'm sure he will find another school that would be happy to have him as one.

Show him that and he will play outside linebacker

yeah if people wanted to argue money i had this link ready

quote:

Via Albert Breer of the NFL Network, the projections for the franchise tags are in:

quote:

Running backs: $10.951 million

Defensive ends: $14.813 million

Linebackers: $13.195 million

i had originally looked this up to post in the dillon gordon thread on the rant saying he's getting screwed not playing OL

This exact same argument was made years ago to Marcus Spears. He was determined to play TE and Saban let him start there (that's why his # was in the 80s) but he eventually saw the light and moved to DE.

I assume White will be treated in a similar way. HS kids are fiscally stupid since they typically don't need to make serious financial decisions. If this kid actually takes his education seriously then he will probably see that $ wise it just makes sense.

That's impressive at any size, but at his size... wow.

I do not agree with everything Miles does, but I don't think he and Frank Wildon would deceive the young man. He will be a running back if that's what he told them he wants.

This^^.

I'll admit I didn't real all the posts in this thread, but I didn't have to in order to get a good laugh. I also don't agree w/ everything CLM does, but it's reassuring to know that we've got a lot of guys here smarter than out staff and ready to correct CLM's dumb decisions. Y'all want us to believe the LSU coaching staff has spent their ONLY spot for a RB in this year's recruiting class on a guy that in your minds is better suited to be a FB or LB?

Last spring DW talked about the advantages of being a LB instead of RB in the NFL (primarily longevity and money), but decided nevertheless he wanted to play RB. Until this season, I thought he was better suited for LB. But after hearing the opinions of the AL RB coach and other college coaches recruiting him for RB, hearing how Devin wanted to play RB and seeing how his heart wasn't really into playing LB as much as playing RB this season, I changed my mind. Sorry guys, I'm gonna trust our coaching staff more than the opinions of the OB on this one.

As far as his size, whatever his playing wt was this year, he's got room to lose a good bit of wt. At the beginning of his junior yr he was a solid 235#. I don't think a playing wt next yr of 240-245# is unreasonable. DW will be bigger than our other backs, yet be as fast as all but 1 or 2. If he works hard and stays out of trouble he'll see the field in the '16 season at RB.

Agreed 100%. White was the only running back we recruited for 2016, and its pretty clear the coaching staff is going to make him a RB.

Since everybody seems to believe we need linebackers so badly, we have to start trying to convert running backs to LB, I have a different solution. How about we just recruit kids whose primary position is linebacker in the first place??

If we cant even recruit full time linebackers, then we have some very large issues that need to be addressed immediately.
