Owens looks like a prototypical athletic energy 4-man. 6'8" 220 but plays with a ton of explosion and is a tip-back machine

Am I looking at the wrong videos? Where is this explosion you're talking about? He looks a helluva lot more like Johnny O'Bryant than someone who is an explosive leaper like Jordan Mickey. I'm not saying that the guy is a bad player, but it's hard to tell alot about guys from these stupid mix-tapes where 95% of the "highlights" are dunks and blocks

I felt the same way as you.

I'd say that JOB was explosive. He was able to get to the basket very well from the post. I see Owens a smaller (in both height and weight), more agile Johnny. Owens will be able to fit well within the offense at PF/C.

Ok maybe the word choice of explosion was poor. The main point of my post was that his play style is a high energy 4-man with a good motor. He looks like he's always around the offensive glass and always looking for a tip-in. I guess the word i would use is aggressive. He's still pretty damn athletic though. Maybe not "a ton of explosion" but he surely isn't a guy who can't elevate at all.

Agree completely. Owens looks like he can slash a little bit more off the bounce than JOBIII could. Obviously Owens won't be as polished of a low post scorer also.

I was at the EYBL this weekend. Owens was sick but he's a monster. Had nearly double digit rebounds in first half of a game (Ben Simmons got his eye busted and missed most of the game) ... then ran to garbage can at half and threw up. Has serious conditioning issues due to terrible diet.

If you have questions on players South, you know how to reach me. I saw them all for the most part and will be in Minnesota again.

You are a great source on these kids. Glad the Quarterman stuff turned around. Though it looks like he was definitely considering leaving.

From what i understood his reasons for considering departing were non-basketball related so it is good indeed. Still high on him

Don't know if you saw me ask in the other thread or not, but have you ever seen Crandel play? He plays post in hs but I think he could play 2 maybe in college.

Not sure his prospects of playing college but heard he isn't a good scorer. PVille (while I like their organization and the man who runs it) aren't a very good team when it comes to upper echelon. They aren't likely in the Top 25 in the state tbh.

What the hell does the Hickey/Hammink/Morgan news mean for this recruiting class? Is there a chance at a late commitment? "Processing" them and counting the new recruits brings us under the limit next year. If you aren't bringing anyone else in, why not let one of them stick around for another year?

He plays some lazy defense sometimes but I've seen him put them on his back this year. We've lost way more than last year b/c of injuries. Courtney julien is finally back playing the last week or two.

Here's hoping we can make some noise in San Antonio later

I think Coach tries to get one of the graduating transfers who can come in and play next year. Hopefully a guard. There are about 6 uncommitted 6'+ guards uncommitted. Deadline to sign is May 21 so we should know in the next week.
