Charles Scott and Steven Ridley lacked that speed as well. Hilliard and Ware don't have it. That's one on the issues with big physical backs that are north south runners. That kind of explosiveness is rare. Miles wants his backs eating up yards and pounding on defenses. In a Les Miles offense 4.4 speed with explosiveness is not needed. 4.6 speed with unbelievable power is what's needed.

I'm not sure what your point is. Very confusing.

Look I'm not trying to knock Fournette's speed.

But Raymond is the fastest kid in 4a and one of the fastest in the state. Fournette is not going to out run him, all things equal. It doesn't mean he is slow.

Let's try this one more time:

The topic is about Fournette lacking explosive speed...

5Alive brought up a valid point of him outrunning, as you stated multiple times, the fastest kid in 4A on the football field...

You laughed and I cosigned as witnessing what 5Alive seen...

Again, this is not a discussion on rather a 6'2 225+ pound back is the fastest kid around, it's to illustrate how ridiculously wrong the article is...

Comprende?

again, all things equal, he cannot out run him.

with an angle, or with a running start, he can. That is not the same.

and yes, he is plenty fast enough. ive said that

On a consistent basis, of course not... The topic isn't about who is the fastest... He was indeed explosive enough to outrun Raymond not once, but a couple of times(One was a 80yd scamper)... And I'm talking man coverage with Fournette in the backfield...

Remember, key word: Explosive...

Definitely not a knock on Raymond... When we started the pass attempts, he did his thing in coverage...

Anyway, don't know why we are going back and forth over this considering both will be Tigers

In no way I am saying that he is faster than Raymond but imma put it like this. I had a conversation with Coach Darren Dixon, who is the track coach and he has said multiple times that if Fournette really put the work in on the track that he could be one of his best sprinters of all time and dude we all know St Aug has had some of the best track teams in state history.

Leonard Fournette, New Orleans St. Augustine: The rising junior was impressive at the Rivals100 Five-Star Challenge and the LSU camp. He is a North-South runner who can take a pounding since he's 6-foot-1 and 215 pounds. But Fournette has also proven to be a surprising resource catching passes out of the backfield. The 2014 prospect does not have explosive speed, but that could be developed in the coming years. I always understood Fournette had Speed and power. What’s up with that?

So he's 6'1" 215 and one of the best prospects in the nation and some of our local Lochhead Martin employee fans are concerned he only runs a 4.5? Lache Seastuck runs a 4.3 maybe we should go find him..
