I agree, but you know how Chavis likes those S/LB hybrids.

Found the thread from when he committed to Nebraska

Here's the link to the Times Pic article where it sounded like he wanted an LSU offer but thought they had made a "Mistake" in not calling after he missed the camp.

This kid looks like a football player that can contribute. Hope he hasn't made commitments to Pelini and Corey Raymond that he can't change.

Claimed 4.43 speed in latest article. Not sure who verified that but if it's close to that number he could easily play safety.

I think he's also playing some WR for Jesuit, so it wouldn't be your typical LB to safety transition. They probably just play him at LB because he is physical and that is where he can have the most impact.

go to school with Debo, he is a really nice and cool guy always talking to everybody. Also my science teacher,Gino Giambelluca played at LSU, says they put him in at WR when they need a big play or first down. IK csb

Hs lbs are moved to S in college all the time.If you've seen a lot of hs lbs they tend to be a little on the small side.At one point Bama wanted Scout's #1 OLB Kwon Alexander as a S.Do agree Jones would be a lb at LSU eventually.Don't think this offer has anything to do with current commits aside from maybe greyshirt/non qualifiers.More to do with Jones' talent.Does suprise me some though. Some guys had this one pegged for a couple of weeks though.Credit goes to them.

high school claimed speeds are always correct. And speed alone doesn't make someone able to play DB. If you are not natural in coverage, you are going to be lost going into college as a DB. There's a reason nobody recruits high school linebackers to play DB.

We could put him at safety. It'd be awesome, he'd be the next Danny McCray.

(No one needs to bring up McCray's NFL career, cause he ain't there for his coverage skills.)

All these times are usually inflated. But if he's even a 4.5 guy with good hips and awareness there is no reason he can't play safety for us.

I'm not saying we have to trust everything this staff has to say but when it comes to the secondary they've been pretty damn spot on to the point that I'm not balking at their decisions when it comes to that area.

I remember back in the spring some trusted people around LSU recruiting circles were saying Jones and Lloyd Grogan were the 2 best athletes at LB in the state.I certainly understand the offer based on physical gifts but can't get anyone to say for certain who his offer is pushing out of our class.I'm no talking about commits but guys that we are chasing.Anyone that gets some clarity on that issue please get back to the rest of us if possible. It's an interesting development to say the least.

I started a thread about Debo pertaining to the player we would miss the most out of this class in retrospect.

He fits our defensive system PERFECT at linebacker. He can fly for a linebacker prospect. He'll maintain his speed at 220 lbs.

There are different reports on this. Even still, that doesn't mean he must stay at safety because that's what he was recruiting as.

I have seen him play a couple of times, and he is still the most impressive defensive player I have watched in person this year. This was my first impression

LINK

This kid will play wherever he ends up. He is an absolute animal, and has a "want" to be on the field.

DJ is one of the most gifted HS LBers I have ever seen play. his lateral quickness is unreal, and he has a real nose for the ball
