the only thing i can think of is the next major hurricane track update. other than that, we're still going to see wind and rain for a while. not the intensity of BR and NO, but TS strength at a minimum.

That they'll be closed tomorrow, most likely.

LUS is very reliable. It all depends on your neighborhood, whether or not there are a lot of trees between the substation and you.

Yes. And I'll give two reasons why:

1. The LUS service area is very small compared to other utilities. Although there are approximately 120,000 people in the city (and 65,000 meters), the reaction time for outages is very short due to the closeness of the customers to the operations center.

2. The LUS electric system is set up in a circular/looped pattern. If a specific line or substation trips offline and requires major construction, the system is set up for alternate/backup feeds to provide power.

With that said, storms are tricky and can vary in damage. LUS was devastated in 2002 with Lili. Gustav in 2008 was bad but not as bad as Lili. If Lafayette only sees TS winds, there should be no long term outages.

Lily was no joke. Thakfully I had reservations in New Orleans that weekend to see the Saints/Steelers game. My power had just been restored when we returned that Sunday evening.

I never lost it during Gustav, Katrina or Rita. A couple of days during Lili. Have moved since then, but more centrally loccated and no trees.

Rains picking up. Had to move the cooking inside. About time to move the drinking to the garage.

The most problems areas include those neighborhoods that are covered in trees. Along Johnston Street toward the river is always a problem area.

I do expect a number of outages with this system due to the amount of exposure Lafayette will have to the 30-50 MPH winds. I really hope it's not widespread.

It looks like we're about to encounter a bit of a break. However, the next rain will be brutal.

Ughhhh

Lilly was a CAT-3 before wind shear knocked it back down but the damage was unbelievable in Evangeline Parish. The old timers said it was Audrey all over again. I spent 2 months chain sawing on my farm just to get the roads cleared. That not even touching the woods, we had to get some loggers to help with that. Very underrated storm in my book but it's all about relevance, meaning city size, population and such if the media covers it.

That is 100% correct.....I want to see what type of media coverage a storm like Isaac would have gotten assuming the only LA landfall was around Pecan Island and it came up between LC and Lafayette.

Actually I don't want to see that becuase I would be screwed by that
