I'm not a fan of his policy decisions at the state level, but he EXCELS in this "crisis leadership" role.
He'd be great as the head of FEMA.
How much experience does he have organizing horse shows?

He ain't my favorite politician by a long shot, but the man can handle business during a crisis.

True. And FEMA basically rubberstamps premptive calls for aid from a LA governor
I doubt Blanco/Nagin could do as well even with lessons to draw from.
Case in point: how much time both spent doing TV interviews in the immediate aftermath.
And as they lost more control, they spent more time on TV

If he would have been in a position of authority during Katrina he would have excelled on that.
I saw him with my own eyes driving around actively helping people and leading rather than standing around like blanco and nagin

This. I'm sure he would have done a better job than Blanco BUT he does have the advantage of learning from their mistakes.

Kind of disappointing that his religious background and laws he passed here kills any chances of running and winning a presidency.
Considering the main role of a president....he could have been a good one.

That may true, but he is Mr. crisis management guy. Best I've ever seen.

So make him head of FEMA
I am sure President Romney will do exactly that

The only reason I can think of is that he didn't beat Blanco the first time, thus indirectly resulting in the deaths of an indeterminate number.

He looks very impressive on tv during these storms. Other than that I don't know anything about the guy.

Maybe DHS but FEMA isn't even a cabinet position. The guy running it from FL right now is good.
There's only be a handful of Cabinet Members that have gone on to be elected as President or VP, though so Jindal may opt for Mary L's Senate seat.

Senator Jindal would be much better than senator landrieu
Posted on 8/30/12 at 12:01 pm to Golfer
Yeah, FEMA is not really an up-and-coming political post.
He will go back to the Senate, and run for governor again after a Senate term.

you must not know much about louisiana's voting history. i love the state but we have been plaqaued with constant and extremely poor choice of leaders. there is a large contingency of voters that vote w/o using their brains. vote on emotion and promises for free shite. and before you call me a racist, only part of this contingency is non caucasian.

exactly..The man does his daily conference and unless needed, goes to work coordinating all levels. Because of his handling of Gustav, people don't need to see him giving interviews and press conferences. We know the shite is getting done.
