Hubba Bubba,
Any idea how/why this model shows a due west or even southwest track between midnight and 6 a.m.?
It looks like it has the system "bouncing" off of the original landfall.
Thanks for posting these.

Ed Rappaport from NHC not painting a great picture for BR. He's Pat Shinleton's guest on 6 o'clock news. He said BR will remember storm for long duration of bad weather.
I've been saying this the past 12 hours and all people do is laugh at it.

Probably. If you're not on lsu's campus and you're in BR, there's like a 90% chance you lose power.

if the levees and pumps are as good as they say we should only see flooding from rainfall instead of a breach huh?
Yup. Like I said, the conditions will be similar, but the upgrades should do their job and you won't see anywhere near the destruction.

You should've been up in these threads then there;s plenty of others with that opinion.

Ya, the biggest threat I think everyone is worried about is massive rainfall overwhelming the pump system and not breaches.

We shall see
Nola is on the "wrong" side of this system

Just saw about 5 military vehicles turn onto Bellaire Drive. Not sure why though. I can also hear the pumps doing their job right now.

Good. I was just about to put my head down in shame and not comment the rest of the storm.
Take my ball and go home.

If this track holds, it will definitely be equal to or worse than Gustav for Baton Rouge IMO....practically the same intensity (maybe a tad less) and for a much more prolonged time and much closer to the COC

I gave up on the thread once it turned to an IM. It's a lot better now.
