It took me about an hour to do it yesterday, but I could do it in about 10 mins now, pretty simple.
can't get the screws off on mine.
Afraid to drill them out as I may not have replacements.

I tried, the washers stick out more than the screws.

See my post on 1st pae, I had the same problem as you, simple fix. Go buy starter fluid and a spark plug. Clean pastic float and injector inth silver bowl under carborator.

Just a quick little FYI,a bunch of generators with the 10hp Briggs engines have the plastic float/needle assembly.
The main brass jet is what usually gets clogged and you have to remove that jet from the plastic tube in the center and open the hole up with a needle. The little jet just pops out from the front side, open the hole with the needle and using a q-tip push it back set in the plastic tube.be careful to properly align that funky looking oring before putting the carb back together.
You must remove the carb to perform this procedure and if you don't have the proper torx wrench to remove the two bolts that hold the carb on then you can use a 9/32 socket to get them off.

Brass phillip head screws? Get a LARGE driver, make sure it is kind of dull on end, not pointed

Napoleon, those screws are total crap and will strip out every time. You need to remove the carb so that you can get to them with a small pair of channel lock pliers and they'll break loose.

This is what I id yesterday, but I ust use starter fluid, it easily melts away the brown gum. I tried to put bowl back on w/o removing caborator, pretty hard to do (if not impossible)

I have the best carb cleaner available,B12 Chemtool. If that shite don't eat away the crap that gets stuck in the jet, nothing will. You got extremely lucky.

Mine wasn't completely plugs. It would only run on full choke.

Gotcha. If an engine runs on full choke then you have a main jet clog. The carb gets its fuel from choke through a different jet. Maybe the blockage just freed uo with the vibrations the motor was making.

General question:
I always tell folks to plug in a $60-70 UPS to the generator output to clean up the power a bit before charging or using electronics.
Is this still necessary with newer portable generators?
