In case anyone is looking for an update on friends/family on the ship that was held up in the gulf, it should be at the port of new Orleans by 3:00 pm today. It took us to Mobile thinking their port would open before they would open the river, now instead theyre taking us back up the river to Nola.

Word is, they're having some sort of 3 day fire sale "cruise to nowhere" this weekend. It's like $120 a person.

Always been wary of Carnival Cruises, but if I don't get power, I'm actually considering taking the family.

Here's what I got in an email.

I haven't called yet to vouch for its legitimacy or not, so don't hold me to anything.

Price $129 per person (plus applicable taxes) for the entire 3 night cruise.

That sounds about right. A wholesale website I checked a few days ago had it at $160 for an inside room before they trimmed it to a 3 day cruise to nowhere. It was supposed to be a 4 day to cozumel.

I posted the alleged phone number above. That's all I've got, sorry.

I guess it can't hurt to call. I wouldn't know how to vouch for it not being some sort of scam, though.

The original 4 day cruise was supposed to leave this afternoon, so if they are doing a 3 day cruise to nowhere, my guess is departure is tomorrow.

Edit: and my guess would be wrong. When are they planning to board everyone, considering that's just 9 hours from now?

the fricked up thing is that so many people canceled flights hotels etc once we headed to Mobile, which is where we were told that we would unload. then they changed it back to Nola.
