Sounds like Boobie wants the crews to update the PR people every 15 minutes instead of working 16 hour shifts to repair the lines.
Yep

Not all the time. Also, they aren't coming from 5-6 hours away. We had crews from NY come to Laffy for Gustav. They do not leave THAT far ahead of time.

And station outside of the area until the storm has passed in places like Jackson, Hatteisburg, etc.

Entergy does not employ enough crews to work this sort of damage.
Not a single power company in the country does. They all have the same arrangement.

Those people have to travel. And they travel in line trucks, bucket trucks, and with trailers and stuff
Correct. But they had many of the crews already stationed out of harms way ready to come down. Doesn't really make sense to leave all your assets in the path of the storm, does it?

I swear man, you must own a stake in that company.
Or just know what's up.

When you have that much infrastructure in the path of the storm, you get who you can. Until Sunday, this wasn't even supposed to come here. Now, they see that, call people, guess what? The closer people were already headed to MS, AL and such. So now, you rely on states further out to send crews.
Let me ask you, how many times have you done this? This is a logistical nightmare for utilities. Not to mention trying to find places for them to stay, stuff for them to eat, and just getting material to do the repairs. This shite isn't easy. I'm sure Entergy is doing their best to get this done. Afterall, they are missing out on revenue if the meter isn't spinning.

Come on man. You act like they don't have plan for this beforehand.
So they know what customers are going to be without power and in what manner BEFORE the storm?

If being out at least week of power every time a storm comes is acceptable then that is bad.
I never said a week was acceptable.

Seriously, if you aren't communicating to your customers and when you do you direct them to the same stuff they here from you then they are going to be upset.
They are communicating, you just aren't listening.

Lost power around 5 Wednesday morning and power restored around 3:15 this afternoon. Good job Entergy!!

So are you suggesting a company that only works 1 maybe 2 times a year? Doesn't seem very beneficial. You sound not only like a whiny bitch in this thread but also a moron.

Explain to me how they can plan for how to repair something before they know what is damaged?
They are FOLLOWING what you said they should have....they do have a general plan and priorities.
They need to assess the situation to fill in the details and hand out the work orders.
Keep in mind that the majority of workers out there are loaners.
It seems like you think that repair jobs go by "Hey, you go down this street and that street and repair any damage you find."

Re: communicating with customers
I haven't even been searching but in the last 2 hours I've heard the head guy Rice explain what is going on twice. In detail. Turn your damn radio on
Before they can restore large portion of power they have to restore substations & transmission lines.
From there they will restore whichever grid can bring back the most customers. If you live by a small pocket of customers, you are going to wait

Entergy is supposed to go around and cut limbs down near power lines all year every year. I find they don't do enough of this.
I understand they can't predict who is going ot be out of power or what trees are goign to fall over but they don't do enough preventive maintenance.
Most people in the utility industry would agree with this. However, they can't account for everything, even with a proper tree trimming schedule. You just have to be patient. And trust me, call multiple times a day, but don't get stupid.

He was talking about Nola but you keep talking like there is no plan or communicating. I'm sure the process is the same. Maybe your substation is down? Maybe you live in an area with only a few outages.
I've been following them on twitter and they update like every half hour. This guy Ice seen this guy Rice on tv at least 4 times today and 2 more times on the radio.
