Dude, you are really broke up all over this. I agree, Entergy sucks in times like this. However, they have a huge service area and it just got battered big time. Its been what... 2 days tops. Give them some time. In the meantime, call every day...even twice a day. It gets difficult to keep track of hundreds of thousands of outages.

Where is the master plan?

I have been at work all day. I called them, checked their website. I see nothing or have been told on nothing.

ETA: If you say it is to restore hospitals and substations the please spare me.

1. Damage assessment. The computers can tell them what is out, but they don't know how. They began that this morning. During the assessment, if the power can be fixed, they'll fix it.

2. Priority Grids

3. Neighborhoods/transformers

4. Individual outages

What more do you need to know?

BTW an Entergy assessment truck just drove by my house.

This is the only way it can be done. It works, but not always the fastest for those individual outages.

Boobie, did you take any damage to your house? Like, are your lines down from a tree, or are you underground?

It shouldn't be their job to deflect, avoid, or not release pertinent information.

Nobody's avoiding releasing pertinent information. Crews are released to repair the transmission infrastructure and trouble shooters are released to refuse lines that are able to be energized.. That's how large numbers of customers come back on right after the storm.
The rest of the crews go out and trace out the feeders that come off the substation, down to the distribution lines that feed people's houses.. If there are poles broken or crossarms need to be replaced, trees cleared etc., those crews go out and perform that work.. That's the hardest work and takes the longest amount of time to complete.
The reason PR people don't provide specifics is because they're not out there, seeing what the crews see. The PR people are answering when customers, police, sheriff's dept etc call with emergencies and notifiying the crews.. Nobody can know everything all at one time..

Pathetic.

I'm sure Entergy is MORE than willing to add a digital tracking system with real-time updates...enjoy your monthly bill tripling.

Sounds like Boobie wants the crews to update the PR people every 15 minutes instead of working 16 hour shifts to repair the lines.

Honestly, if they had more Demco people in Baton Rouge we could probably get better service.

This illustrates your ignorance. Where do you think Demco gets their power from? If anything, co-ops like Demco are even more dependent on Entergy.

Good point. People should start worrying this weekend.

Not to mention, Entergy does not employ enough crews to work this sort of damage. They have to call people in. Those people have to travel. And they travel in line trucks, bucket trucks, and with trailers and stuff. Those things barely go 60MPH. Fact is, this is a massive undertaking and can't be done overnight.

They've got 800,000 customers without power and started work this morning.

They are a monopoly. So lets break it up or allow more competetion here.

You realize in cities with multiple power companies, there is still one company that owns the lines?

I've attempted damage assessment in 40+ MPH wind. That was stupid. You get nothing done. Not to mention, crews cannot work in that wind. Its impossible.

Over half a million outages man. No telling how many are Entergy.

My power came on this morning and I am an Entergy customer. The spokeswoman for Entergy last name is Pounds has gotta be the most pessimistic PR spokeswoman I ever saw. She made it sound like absolutely nothing would be done except driving around for 2 days.
