Zoysia Seeds

Should I spread Zoysia seeds in the holes left after fertilization/pre-emergent killed some crabgrass, etc or just let the yard grow on its own?

How big are the holes?
Also, spreading seed isn't just a matter of throwing it out. You will need to water the areas once or twice a day for the first 12 days. Don't need to keep them soaked, but moist.
With the temps now that could open you up to fungus.

Also how recently did you put out pre-emergent? If it’s within the past few months your seed is unlikely to do anything.

Holes are at most one square foot.
Pre-emergent was spread 2 weeks ago.
Secondary game plan....just pull any weeds or crab grass out of those areas to give more time to let the zoysia spread?

You sure it was pre-emergent?
If so and recently, like the poster above said, your seed won't germinate.
Edit: Since its so late in the fall, you could always throw down some rye grass just to hold the soil over winter until the grass becomes active again and spreads.

That's what I would do. Reassessment in the spring.

Fill with some sand topsoil mix. It will spread by the middle of next summer. You could cut some plugs from other spots and fill.

Growing from seeds can be difficult. If it’s fairly small, it will fill in by itself.
I “checkered” in some Zoysia on my lawn around May/June of this year. Controlling the weeds in the empty space and trying to promote growth was a battle. Ultimately, it’s about 50%+ filled in. It took a few months for the runners from the new sod to start growing, while the part abutting my existing sod filled in quickly.
The area likely won’t fill in between now and dormancy, but it should fill in rather quickly next spring. As mentioned, level it out with sand/topsoil if necessary and keep the weeds out of it.

Let it grow. I imagine it wouldnt be the same zoysia anyway. I think there is only 1 zoysia that grows from seed. Or get sod and cut it up.
