How come these warning beeps never happen during the day. Always in the middle of the night. Rant Off.

Good fricking question. Our started chirping a couple weeks ago. Of course, it was 2 a.m. at the time.

Ambient temperature.

Average life of a Smoke Detector is around 10 years. I just changed out the ones in my sisters house.
Try to replace with the same model number. That way, you can leave the base on the ceiling, easy fix.
Also, buy the 4 or 6 pack. Cheaper than buying the singles.

I’m up in N. Ga. At my sisters house, done them 3 days ago.
As for batteries, Energizer’s, an I change them every year. Around Christmas.
Also I write with a marks-a-Lot on the A/C filter the date.
I keep a record on my phone for A/C and Water filter change outs.

I recently replace two connected, wired units in a rental with 2 non-connected 10 year internal battery units (that were close to the same cost as the wired units). The built -in, internal battery units are supposed to last 10 years without the need to replace back-up batteries yearly, however they aren't hardwired so the units are not connected to each other,
Its a rental and a small house (but with 12 ft ceilings), so the idea is I won't have climb on the ladder yearly to change the batteries. Will see how it works out.

I'll admit I'm not very knowledgeable about electricity but I know for a fact temperature effects the flow of electrical current.

Battery is slightly weaker at cooler temps.
Although the current needed to run a detector is miniscule, when the battery gets weak, a cooler house will cause the battery to become weaker, triggering the low battery alarm/chirp.

This makes sense, but with HVAC systems why does it change that much? I can't imagine it would drop more than 2-3*?

I always keep a few 9 volt batteries on hand for this reason alone. When I use the last one, I pop open the Amazon app and order a few more.

I have always thought this a very well conceived ploy to increase sales. If it starts chirping at 3 AM, I am very to take a broom handle and knock that bitch off the wall.

Obviously, it is the way of the universe. It is bizarre that it only seems to occur in the wee hours of the morning.
I have a parrot that mimics that beep perfectly. He treading on thin ice. Lol
