Where can I get some bamboo? by 7LSU7

Come to my house. You can have all the black bamboo you want for free, under 2 stipulations:
1. You have to come dig it up yourself while i oversee & drink a cold beer.
2. You can’t leave until you take all of it.

i dug up a bunch of my uncle's black bamboo to take back to TN with me. when i got to his house he just laughed and handed me a paper sack and a shovel.

2 hours and 1,573 cuss words later i had a 'bulb' pulled up that i put in the sack. it was such a traumatic experience i just assumed it was dead.

got home, threw the sack in my back yard and didn't look at it again until the spring. lo and behold i go outside and there's a damn bamboo forest growing out of the paper sack.

it actually unnerved me so i put some in a planter and never got up the nerve to put it in the ground in my yard.

Take a good look at that picture.

If you still want to plant bamboo after seeing that you deserve what comes next.

The Memphis Zoo was asking people to grow bamboo to feed to the pandas. They probably will take whatever to OP grows off of his hands.

When I was a kid we used to play in a mini bamboo forest that grew out of someone’s backyard and the only thing that stopped it’s march from their yard into the forest was a fairly wide creek that it abutted. Over the years people had cut rooms into it; was pretty cool. Don’t. Do. It.

Augusta National GC at one time had bamboo growing around the perimeter of the course. You're not getting through that stuff when it's grown densely.

Clumping bamboo is perfectly fine. That’s pretty much all the nurseries sell now days anyway. I used ‘ green goddess’ to screen my courtyard and it’s perfect.
