What’s Killing my st aug?

Had some trouble with grub worms last year. Am I dealing with the same thing again? As you can see, there are patches that are growing very well and have deep green and then patches that are more yellow that don’t seem to be growing.

Looks like stunted growth. What herbicides did you apply?
Grubs eat the roots so the grass wouldn’t be attached to the ground. You’d be able to wipe the grass away like you were wiping off a countertop.

I just recently put in plugs where the grubs got the grass in late summer. And yes, back then I could literally just pull up the grass by sweeping my hand over it. It was quite depressing bc my yard looked awesome. Now it’s quite shitty

YOU ARE, killin it by mowing it too short and exposing da root system to diseases, cut dat at 3” baw, won’t take long to see dat grass happy...

I don’t scalp my lawn baw, it’s not a mower height issue I can promise you that.
I can see how the picture appears that I could’ve cut it super short but that’s not the case, it’s a stunted growth issue

If you find grubs immediately put down arena. If you want to prevent them apply merit. Have you ever resodded or sprigged (other than last year? It definitely looks like it’s just stunted. Possibly floratam vs palmetto vs raleigh variety that aren’t growing at the same rate.

picture is not showing up. Is it Brown Patch lawn disease? If it is use Scott's DiseaseX

Don’t think it’s brown patch, I’ve dealt with that in a yard before. Have not resodded any parts of this yard other than the plugs that I put in a week ago. The grass looked great and fully uniform until about 2 weeks ago.

The guy that said brown patch could t see the pictures. It’s not a disease.

And you applied no herbicides at all? I’ve seen stunted st aug with Celsius
Posted on 3/30/20 at 7:40 am to ronk
I do use Celsius for Virginia buttonweed but have not applied this year. The only thing I’ve put down is 15-5-10 and triazicide insect killer. But the stunted growth didn’t start until two weeks ago. I applied the herbicide and insecticide well before that and it had been perfectly fine

It's incredible how difficult it's been for me to keep my St. Augustine alive.

Actually I did spray Image to get rid of clover. Maybe I went too heavy in places? But I’ve used image a lot of the years and never had this problem. But guess it’s a possibility

Good chance you found your answer. Important for everyone remember desirable grasses are not immune to the effects of herbicides we spray to kill weeds, only tolerant of the herbicide, and some grasses more so than others. It’s easy to overspray or over apply herbicides to an area and stunt the growth of desirable lawn grass. I’ve done it more than once.

Anything I can do to help or reverse the stunted growth?
Crazy thing is is that the Image didn’t even effectively kill off the clover this go round. I sprayed about a month ago so makes sense that I’m just now seeing the damage. I know it takes a little while to see the effects

Nothing comes to mind - reading the thread, ronk’s advice, what you are doing and been doing with regards to insect control and potential diseases control, sounds you are doing what you can. If it is indeed an over spray of image (with atrazine I assume), however it occurred, and grass is not dying, just stunted as your pictures show, it will eventually come out of it.
