What kind of cable/wire/rods that are flexible but "spring" back in shape?

I'm trying to put something in the top cuff of multiple canvas bags that will hold them open. They always collapse and I was thinking maybe something like what they use in women's hoop skirts, but I have no clue what to search for or if there would be something better.

Always close on their own:

I'm thinking I could push something through the top cuff/fold:

Any advice is much appreciated.

Maybe try a strip of plastic from one of those flexible cutting boards. Cut it a bit longer than the fabric channel and it will flex open.

Fiberglass rod maybe, I'm thinking something like I use to fish wires through a wall but thinner.

Maybe a spring from an old recoil pull start. Issue is they’d rust.

Thanks for the ideas and I’ll try a couple, but I’ll order some of this and see if that works too.
