I've put up traps in the attic surrounding the area that I believe the mouse is entering through.

It's on a divider wall that divides the kitchen and living room. This is also a new build that's not even 6 months old.

We have steel wool now, but I don't want to put that in the brick weep holes until it's out (I don't want to trap it in the house).

Suggestions?

Do you have a cat? If not, you need a cat. Mine will not rest until whatever gets in the house is dead. She's a cold blooded killer who kills for fun.

Put peanut butter as bait in the mouse trap.
Once they smell it, you'll have him in the trap in no time.

Negative

We haven't physically seen the mouse or anything left from the mouse. I think I know the point of entry (larger than the rest weep hole) and it's only in this specific wall

Peanut butter on a raisin (so it will stay on the little post on a traditional wooden trap) will get 'em every time.

We don't have the traditional ones.. we have the ones where it sticks to the folded cardboard. Are these a bad idea?

Depends if your mouse is smart or stupid. I got two dumb ones outside, but the last one got smart

I believe what you are talking about are "glue traps". They work fine, but I've caught way more mice with the old style wooden snap traps baited with peanut butter.

I have a ground floor shop that will get mice and the occasional rat in the winter and that is when I set my traps. After a couple nights, they are dead and gone.

I had one mouse this fall that got the bait 4 nights in a row without setting off the trap. I tweaked the trigger mechanism so it was real touchy and caught it the 5th night. It was tweaked to the point it took me 3 tries to set it on the floor without going off.

This would result in my cat having a trap stuck to his face.

He's an idiot.

Funny story about a glue trap. Mom and Dad knew they had field mice on the back porch area and mom wanted to get rid of them...so she set up a couple glue traps. Well one night as she's going to let her Yorkies out...she sees one of the glue traps walking along the floor....she calls to my dad who then sees it...and grabs his .22 and kills the rat thru the trap. It had gotten stuck on the trap and stood back up...and was rocking that trap like it was nothing. Like a boss. A dead boss...but he was the boss for a bit.

We also used to always use peanut butter. Worked great.

That's the only problem with glue traps. They are not going to kill the rodent quickly and they can walk off with them if big enough.

Like mentioned, I mainly use the old style wooden snap traps and always tie them off to something, especially the rat traps. I've seen rats drag snap traps off before they died of their injuries.

I've seen mice chew their own legs off after getting caught on a glue trap. Also the black Tomcat rat trap do not work for mice. I've smeared peanut butter on it and mice don't weight enough to trip it. They lick it clean.

As I stated previously with my experience in owning chickens. Rolling log mouse trap can catch or kill multiple mice without having to reset it like the wooden snap traps

Are those the ones that use a 5 gallon bucket with water in it and the mice climb up a wooden ramp to get to the bait that is on a cylinder that rolls and drops them in the bucket when they try to access the bait??

If so, pretty ingenious and like mentioned, no need to have to reset. Just clean out the bucket of drowned rodents and add fresh water and bait on the cylinder.

Yes, I bought it off Amazon. I cannot recommend it enough to people. I live near a hayfield that gets cut twice a year. I also own chickens. I have killed my share of field mice

I've made my own to put in my back shed where I keep my lawn equipment, ladders and gardening supplies. Simple to do with a thin metal rod through a plastic soda bottle so it spins on the rod. Just punch 2 holes across from one another on the top of the 5 gallon bucket, run the rod through one, place the plastic bottle on the rod and run the rod through the other side of the bucket then bend the ends of the rod so they don't slip out the holes.

Smear some peanut button on the soda bottle and set up a wooden ramp for the rodents to climb up.
