What's the best way to get rid of wasps, particularly underneath a wooden deck?

My experience with Talstar/Bifenthrin is that a batch in a pump sprayer on soffits and patio ceiling areas prevents them from making nests for months and months. If you can get under and spray, I'd try that first.

I figure everyone in the south has some kind of pest control services - tell them you have wasps and they should come deal with it.

This but make sure to remove nests within a few days or they could return. At least they do when I use the cheap Walmart stuff.
You’re supposed to spray the nests at night when they’re both in the nest and inactive. I normally don’t, but I suppose if I were under a deck rather than 10 feet away, I would adhere to that recommendation.

Was going to start a thread on this, but no need for two. How does one deal with the full red kind( Polistes carolina not Polistes rubiginosus) that nest inside the eaves? I cannot get to the nest from the attic.

I believe the talstar has enough residual effect. If you get the areas where they rub coming and going all along your eaves, that should knock them out.

There's a ledge I can put it on where they land, so I will probably try it. Thanks.

Same. This is my first year using Talstar and I haven't seen the first wasp anywhere.

Poor mixture of dawn soap and water on them. It kills them quickly and you don’t have to worry about poisoning yourself

I understand the OP's fear and perhaps being allergic and such.

Do what you need to do.

Wasp and caterpillars aren't friends. Take your pick.

Ive never had a wasp return to a sprayed nest. I leave em up so that it's one less spot they'll build
