I never went back an re-applied with soap or anything. It appeared the stuff that died stayed dead. I recently weedeated around the old house and noticed some places still appeared bare where there should have been grass so it seems to have worked.

hot dry weather helped a bunch. It helps kill some the stuff that would otherwise need more work. That solution you used was plenty to kill most

You could be right. Though raised homes where this would be used would be best suited for salting. I would not use right up next to a slab I don't think.

Cgrand.......the rock salt for chinese tallow stumps.....are you pouring it directly on the stump and letting the rain dissolve it or do you mix it with water first and spray it on? Just curious as we are fixing to have to tackle some tallow trees at my elderly father's place that has grown up in the fence lines. Thank you.

cut the tree down and leave about 3-4” of stump. Take a couple scoops of salt (pool salt is the cheapest) and mound it up over the stump. Pack it down. Let rain do the rest

Curious on this as well. I have some overgrown areas I would love to nuke and not have it come back for years. Have a dam breach on my pond so some areas that used to be under water are no longer under water and they are growing like crazy and I can't keep up with the weed eater.

I use salt, vinegar, dawn, and water along my driveway and on some rock drainage areas. Seems to work well and last long.

Salt on the leaves most likely isn't what's killing, it's the salt going in the soil and being taken up by the roots.
