Yeah the HVAC guy did me right. Taylor at Traditions and Chase Jarreaux, however, set a bad precedent when they didn’t own up not installing junction boxes on my floodlights and the only solution they offered was old work boxes and told me to take it or leave it. I figured I had a similar deal coming with the HVAC guy but I was wrong. I feel bad for anyone who buys a house built by Jarreau, I can guarantee it will be bad…one of his houses will have an electrical fire from shoddy work

Then you don’t know anything about home inspectors. Home inspectors would never get into that level of detail and mostly say that’s outside of my scope you should hire a professional in that disciplines. I took the internachi certification courses.

I used to litigate new home defects. From concrete that had too much water added to it after the concrete plant because finishers wanted it to spread more easily but made it too porous, to a contractor in Lafayette who was running for office and didn’t “black in” the house for 30 days in Louisiana rainy season weather. Many many poor soil compaction/ foundation before pouring slab including burying the site debris ie trees and limbs and trash IN the site soil! Even one couple whose contractor sketched out the house on a napkin!! Get an architect or draftsman or contractor to do plans with schedules and then hire an architect to do construction management. Don’t buy a warranty. Retain more than 10%. And hire contractors who have a long time reputation of well built homes and don’t over extend themselves.

Should have known better then. But now you are left with what was given to you in writing and what you gave to builder in writing. Hire a lawyer and pay him/her to fix it for you. Fortunately the builder has to comply with code which in Louisiana is generally the Southern Building Code which is the industry standard unless your town adopted something different or you authorized a change with proper information to save money.
