Will the herbicide Drive XLR8 kill torpedo grass with out killing Centipede?

It's quinclorac. It will kill centipede.

Sethoxydim will suppress torpedograss in centipede without killing the centipede, and is what the LSU AgCenter recommends for torpedograss suppression in centipede. I’m under the impression from what I’ve read that it does a reasonably good job if you keep after it.

It does! If it's your first application, go heavy on the dose. You'll see the torpedograss turn dark purple as it dies. Sethoxydim does a great job on lots of grassy weeds in Centipede.

can you buy this at Lowe’s/HD? Any particular brands to buy?

I’ve not seen it at the big box stores in Baton Rouge, I buy it at larger retail plant nurseries, hardware stores with a good garden section, or on-line.
Here are some brands to look for: Fertilome Over-the-Top II, Hi Yield Grass Killer, Bonide Grass Beater, Southern Ag Vantage Grass Killer.
Just double check the label to be sure it says sethoxydim.

Need an answer for this too. Its slowly taking over my yard. Even parts ths3t were dug out and resodded.
Demon grass would be a better name for it.

If you have a VERY small patch it’s worth dousing with roundup and letting the St. Aug grow back. If you have a big patch your options are; let it take over, or resod with zoysia. Quinclorac is really the best thing to get rid of torpedo without totally killing your lawn.
If you have torpedo, your neighbors probably do too, and you’ll be battling it, just like every other weed, for eternity.

I'm so confused by this.
Solitaire herbicide is 56% quinolac but also sulfentrazone and is labeled for centipede, but drive xlr8 is 18% quinolac but not safe for centipede lawn.

I had an area of St Aug infested with TG. It took 3 rounds of glyphosate to completely kill it . That was about a 3 week period. I then mowed the dead grass as short as my mower would go. Then I used the string trimmer and shaved what was left down to the dirt. Then layed new sod. It’s been a little over a year and so far so good.

My neighbor had some torpedo in his zoysia run into my yard. It blends better in st Aug than zoysia so I hadn’t caught it.
I read on lawn forums since I already had the treatment on hand for the Bermuda I’m giving this a try:
Recognition 0.45oz
Fusilide 0.55oz
Quincorlac 1oz (recommended dose is 1.45oz so I dropped some as he suggested to reduce chlorosis)
0.8 oz sticker all in 1 gallon water
I have had very promising results with the recognition and fusilide on the Bermuda in my back yard, it really put a hurting on Bermuda and my st Aug is pushing hard, I boosted with fert at week 3 after applying. I just did a second round of recognition/fusilide to squash the remaining Bermuda that popped up.
