Why the hell did they engineer an engine that you have to take off the valve covers to take off the timing chain cover?

What kind of car?
I've never had to remove valve covers for a timing belt.
quote:

On older pushrod V8s (like a Chevy small-block 350) or many older overhead-valve (OHV) engines, the timing chain cover sits completely isolated on the front of the block below the intake manifold, meaning the valve covers can stay right where they are.

Bean counters and federal regulations combine to give you hunks of shite for vastly more money!

Man. Some cars you have to tear down the front of engine, water pump. Thankfully with chains you rarely replace. I have to do my belt every 100k

A Ford with timing guides that break apart every 100K miles or less. It’s not the chain, it’s the guides I have to replace and will also change the oil pump. Also change the roller followers. 185K miles.

I don’t mind doing the guides since they consider that a wear item, but don’t make it a pain in the arse to get to.
