LSU says not to fertilize until mid-April due to root die off in early spring but it seems like the worst of the cold weather is behind us. Thinking of getting some quick release fertilizer and get it out this weekend.

What are you trying to fertilize?

I’m fertilizing my majority centipede lawn. I had a soil test done but wanted to follow their recommendations to try and wait until mid April to May.

Home Depot on Highland had a ton of it last week. My yard is already a bit greener, and looking better everyday.

I have a few common weeds scattered in the yard. Will this help get rid of the weeds any or should I use a true weed and feed now then go back with the milorganite later on?

Milorganite isn't a weed killer. It is the shite though. Highly recommend it.

ETA: It stinks. The first time I used it I regretted it until I saw what it did to my grass. Totally worth it.

I sprayed 24D on the whole yard 2 weeks ago and fertilized last Saturday. Yard looks like it's doing good to me. All dollar weeds died off and grass should take over those areas

You spray the weeds to kill them before using Milorganite since that is just a fertilizer

How often can you put Milogranite down?
I put some down way too early this year.

Well, "mid april" is next week, so if you go by that, I think you are good. I generally wait until my grass is greened up well, which has not quite happened yet in my area. If you are in south LA, you should be good to go...and probably want to get something out while we are still having good spring rains.

You can probably fertilize again and then not hit it again the rest of the year
