The cost per hour for a gas fireplace (Louisiana).Posted by jimmy the leg
on 2/21/21 at 7:34 am

I keep hearing about the horror stories in Texas. I have rarely used the gas fireplace until this year. I guess I have about 20 hours of burn time. Any clue as to how bad I’m going to be gouged? $350?

Natural gas at my home typically runs me around $20 a month for a stove and hot water hearers. When I use the gas fireplace it’s typically $40-60. I use it often because I enjoy it.

Based on our NG gas prices in MO, I seem to remember it being about $1 an hour on high when I put my ventless logs in 10 years ago.

I would like to know the answer as well.
Wife, who is habitually always cold, ran the piss out of mine last month every weekend and many nights.
My utility bill for the month was an OT approved $350.00.
Needless to say I implemented the one hour per day on the weekends only rule.

Implemented a rule? For your wife?
Did you marry a seven year old?

We run the hell out of our fireplace because we have a loft and Hugh ceiling in our living room with an older home so the living room gets cold in the winter. My bill is something like $25 in the summer and never over $100 in the winter. I’m curious if it’ll be higher this year I haven’t seen one lately, but it’s never close to say a summer electric bill.
