South LA and similar Zones: Hot Pepper Plants during Winter?

How do you handle your hot pepper plants around now and during the winter and leading up to spring?
I only have 10 or so and are potted so for winter I’ll load them up on the wagon and move them in and out of the garage depending on the temps.
Had a bad summer and fall for production. Moved them to a spot that should have been perfect, east-facing so full sun until about 1, sprinkler in the morning and evening. But I guess they didn’t like it.
Do you prune yours back?

Interested in this. I have a bunch of tabasco plants that I was thinking of over wintering. Might be easier to just grow from seed though since they're pretty prolific. The 5 or 6 plants I have now all volunteered from seeds off of one plant that I had in 2021.

Ive tried over wintering jalapenos, sashitos and arbols without much luck. The plants survive but don't produce much the next year. Its easier to go pay $3 a piece for 4" pots and start fresh in the spring.

I put two Tabasco plants in the ground last spring and they died back over the winter. I cut them back in the spring and now each one is 4 ft tall and 6 ft wide and loaded with peppers
