Nothing like eating a freshly picked ripe tomato from the backyard garden. I just cut up 2 Black Krim tomatoes and sprinkled them with a bit of salt and black pepper to snack on.
The only thing better for me is to take a nice thick slice and put it on toast slathered with mayo and a bit of salt and pepper for the "mater' sandwich".

I wish I could eat them. I only grow them to cook with.

Use garlic salt for a little extra flavor. Love me some maters and garlic salt.

I'm jealous that you are capable of picking ripe tomatoes. Leaf footed bugs and cucumber beetles don't let me pick ripe anything

The bugs have arrived here too and I'm now tossing more tomatoes than I'm bringing inside of late. I probably have 20 or so on the kitchen table right now in varying stages of ripeness. With the bugs, I've taken to picking them when they start to turn a bit orange and let them ripen indoors.

Try them with Tony Chachere’s, even better…

Thumbs up for the gardening effort and success but that sounds absolutely disgusting to me

Dealing with bugs, mold and plant diseases are all part of gardening.
With the mild winters we've been having in S.E. La. and no freezing weather to help put a damper on them, I find the bugs are getting worse with each passing winter.
