I've got a fish camp in southern Mississippi and looking to plant some shrubs and trees on the property for deer to eat. Basically stuff that's easy to grow and will keep deer around. We don't shoot them and are trying to get them more on the property.

Any suggestions? Thanks for your time

Sawtooth oak
-grows well in this area
-fast growing
-one of the fastest oaks to start producing acorns
-nice color in fall (for the South)

Also maybe think about putting out a salt or mineral block for the summer months, and they are cheap. Do you have enough property to make a small food plot. Sort of a throw and grow type plot.

Just say no to mineral licks unless you want some Chronic Wasting Disease on your land. Plant some sawtooth oaks and absolute must is some clover. if you are young and plan on leaving this to kids plant some white oaks. be 50 years before they start dropping acorns but they are the filet mignons of acorns.

Pear and apple trees.

That way both you and the deer can have something to munch on
