The house I have now has a gas grill with a direct line to the propane tank on property.

It's fricking awesome. I love not dealing with the individual tanks anymore.

Guess my question is do I need it? Will it be a big eye sore on the wall?

We had one at our old townhouse. Lived there 3+ years and I never attached anything to it. Ours was a wood deck, and there was a little tiny valve coming up through one of the boards near the wall. Barely noticeable, and the option was there if I ever did want to use it. My parents have one on their deck and it is great for the grill. You just have a small quarter turn valve showing, and the flexible metal line attaches to that.

I had my plumber drop a line for a gas grill and absolutely love it! Hated dealing with propane. At the time my friend suggested I run another line to my patio area away from the house for crawfish boils. Damn I wish I had listened to him.

I’m building now and have a line being run for a ng built in grill in the outdoor kitchen. Paid extra to have a line dropped on the edge of the outdoor kitchen and back of the house for either boiling or to run to a ng fire pit off the end of the patio slab. Also, biting the bullet and running lines for a ng whole home generator. All this crap adds up quick but I keep telling myself it’s cheaper to do it now

The answer is yes.

The alternative is absolute regret.

Good Luck.

Generator, fire pit, heater, gas lamps, grill, etc.

If you can have it run and plan to sink money into the space I would definitely do it.

If he is just tying into his original house line he will not have enough pressure for a generator. Regular house pressure is like 7" water column a generator needs 11" water column. So he would need a whole different line coming from the meter with a separate 11" water column regulator.

I run my 10kW generator, derated to 8kW, on a 3/4" NG drop at my patio.

As for unsightly, assuming the line is in the wall, all you should see is something like this: Amazon
