Personally, I never buy warranties since it's been my experience that the thing will lapse long before anything needs to be done to fix whatever is under warranty.

Besides, I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty if anything breaks and fix it myself.

Where is it from? I never buy warranties but decided to on my latest washer and dryer set. It was an extended warranty from Lowes for 5 years. I’m 15 months in and I just replaced the main board for $300.

The only reason I would consider it is because of the COVID manufacturing issues I’ve seen. I have used warranties 3 times on appliances this year. 2 of the regular and 1 the extended. I think its all bc of COVID and less quality control measures being taken.

The extended I bought was from Lowes and I would do it again. It was approved no questions asked. Repair guy is independent of Lowes and said their extended warranty is the best on the market. Its the only one he recommends.

No. But since you considered it you will now need it.

Unless of course you buy it.

My kitchenaid from lowes just had the motor go out. 2 years and 3 months old. Paid $100 for a guy to come out and tell me it'd cost $600 for the parts and labor. I paid $650 brand new so told him to frick off, that wouldn't make any sense. Looked up the part and found it half the price he quoted. Ordered it, looked up a YouTube video and fixed it myself today.

Look at your credit card company's benefits. Mine offered a 1 year extended warranty on top of manufacturers warranty. Technically I was still 3 months over, but my CC paid for the $100 service call. I was only out about $150 for the part and shipping. But I would've paid around that for an extended warranty anyway, so broke even.

My $. 02, is that if you have the patience, you can find parts yourself for cheap, and easily find a youtube video that walks any dummy thru the repair. Hardest part was just the diagnostic figuring out what was wrong. That's what the service call helped me with, then thankfully the CC paid for that.

I'll mention however that the part was backordered and took a month to get it. The wait may have been just as long with the warranty so it may have been a wash. Sucks just the same though

Huh. Usually that doesn’t apply to appliances.

I have never bought an extended warranty ever. After over 30 years of not buying them, I can afford to replace every appliance/TV/tool, etc in the house and still be WAY ahead. With each individual purchase, it is an individual bet but if you just avoid them completely it is almost impossible to lose overall. It is just like going to the casino, you may win a single bet but over the long haul the house always wins and the only way you "win" is by not playing.
