If they deny it is theirs have a chain saw handy and say, that’s cool, I’m going to chop this thing up and we will know real soon who it belongs to. Don’t make this move if you have Cox

Ragin,
Email me (email removed) if you need some contacts at Cox. Doing site engineering, we deal with the engineering side of all the utilities. Can get you to people up the chain if you aren't getting anywhere with customer service.

I shot you an email. I'm hopeful COX handles it. Their customer service made me glad to have EATEL, but the lady at their Damage Claim office in Phoenix seemed to comprehend the problem and handle it with some sense of urgency. I really wish it was Demco or Eatel since I can't sing their praises enough through this issue.

What kind of communication cable is that? Its about an inch wide? Looks huge? It must be toward the end of your property near the street going to and from a larger neighborhood box?
Realistically what's your timeframe here? The easiest thing to do is dig a big arse hole and fix your sewer underneath of that and lay it on top.
I'm assuming you want a plumber to do it for you and that's why its not done?

It's a fairly fat conduit. At least 1". All of our utilities in the neighborhood are buried and run to junctions every few houses next to the transformers on the ground.
I'm not fixing it myself for 2 reasons.
1- That line is in the direct path of my sloped sewer drain. I'd rather not have a hump or a dip in the line to go around the offending line.
2- It is their responsibility to fix it. I didn't drill the hole in my sewer line, they did.
As far as time frame, this was done years ago and has had no impact on my home drainage. Just a small sinkhole and currently an exposed area that I have covered in the front yard so no one falls in.

Round and round we go. COX already came back out. They are claiming their line runs very close to Eatel's and the in-fact marked the correct line. As did Eatel. What Eatel did not mark is the older copper line that is likely abandoned.

A few more rounds of finger pointing, and it turns out COX was to blame. The hardest part was getting people on the phone with COX and getting it escalated to the people who could even comprehend the problem, much less do something about it.
Anyway, as of this morning they had a contractor out who has repaired our sewer pipe and filled the hole.

Good for you for not letting go of this and making somebody take responsibility.

Should have taken a chainsaw to the line, would have ended much quicker. Glad to see you get it worked out

I am baffled that utilities are allowed to do this. What about calling to get everything marked before you dig, do they just not care?
If they bored I'm sure they called in a locate so it's probably on the locate service
