thanks!

I was having flashbacks to the time as a kid I accidentally oversprayed Off! too close to my parents' vinyl siding and it left oil marks.

I know it's not the same thing at all, but your rationale/explanation is great to know.

I used to do this but ants up here become tolerant with consumer grade pesticides. The pros up here get stuff you can't buy as a non-pro and most of the pros up here regularly rotate the product types to prevent the tolerance issue.

For me it is worth $100/yr to let someone else do it and guarantee their work with free callbacks anytime. The eve/soffit cleaning/spray is also something I want nothing to do with as my house is 2-stories.

Correct, some do become tolerant. Which is why you should mix the poison up every so often.

Exterminators are experienced and will outshine the DIY’er. Just because you see a certain product they’re spraying doesn’t mean it’s the only thing in their tank. Also, they know where to spray. Less is more in MOST applications.

I have been using a gold Bengal spray and it works well so far.

It sprays a white powder and has no smell. A bit pricey.

Has anyone had any issues with this discoloring/damaging house paint or any finishes?

No. You mix 1 ox of most of them per gallon. Its so little that you are spraying over 99% water.

Its also every 2-3 months, so its not a problem there either.

Roaches like water, that's why people see them in showers a lot. They don't come out of the drains or toilets. At least not usually. They just go TO the water so you see them there more often. Same as under sinks. All of these are also prime areas to spray.

I'm not sure what the one guy does for a full hour, I have a 2400 sq ft house and it takes me maybe 20 mins to spray the inside and outside. It may be closer to 10.

Do I do a perfect job? No. But its good enough. Just spray along all of the baseboards in the main areas of the house, and especially under the sink, under the appliances, and well in the bathrooms. I rarely do much in the upstairs except for the hallway, bathroom, and my kids room and that's only because they hate them so I do it extra. That's just along the base.

The outside is quick. Just spray the first 6 inches of the wall of the house and ground around the house. This can be done in one spray. Then around the windows, doors, and eaves. I also spray real real well anywhere there is water. So along with AC drain, downspouts, etc.
