Savannah Holly TREES

Anyone know any nurseries selling Savannah Holly TREES? I can't find any retail tree nurseries in the state that have Savannah Hollies in TREE form. A few have them in bush form, but not in tree. I need 11 of them and don't feel like paying $250/tree from the local flower shop for a 15 gallon tree.

These are the prices from Doug Young Nursery in Forrest Hill. Well worth the trip to buy 11 for the price.
Savannah, I. attenuata
3 gal.-6.00 7 gal.-14.00 10 gal.-30.00
15 gal.-45.00 30 gal.-90.00
DOUG YOUNG NURSERY
It was 2018, but should be around the same price.

In addition to DYN in Forest Hills, another poster on this board recently purchased 3, 15 gal Savannah Hollies in tree form from Wayne’s Nursery, also in Forest Hills at a comparable price and he was very happy with them, and the advice they gave him. As I recall he spoke with Marvin?

Doug Young didn't have any trees when I called the other day.

I just got 4 of these from Wayne’s Nursery in Forest Hill.
$55 a piece. 15 gallon.
And they had much bigger. 30 gallon and then some.

Are you sure there's a difference between a Savannah Holly and a Savannah Holly TREE?
The Savannah Holly is a tall, narrow tree that is very different from most holly bushes. It grows quickly into an upright form, that can in time grow more than 30 feet tall, but it remains only around 8 feet wide. Its more open habit is unlike most other hollies, but this tree still has the deep-green evergreen leaves with spines, and the bright red berries in fall and winter that holly trees are famous for. In time this tree develops a beautiful trunk of smooth gray bark, which can be pruned up or left shorter. Plant this tree as an accent point in the garden, as a lawn specimen, or as an open screen. This hybrid of two American holly species is well adapted to warmer states, and it is an ideal choice for the South.

Call Banting’s. They have them

Yeah, on has a nice center trunk and the other didn't grow straight and/or was cropped at young age sending multiple branches out w/ no true center trunk. It will very likely still grow very tall but w/ no true center trunk

ETA: Ducote's will have 45 gal in August for $200

LOL, not really but I did bookmark your recommendation b/c my hunting lease is 15 min from Forest Hills and I often pick up plant material during hunting season, but I wasn’t familiar with Wayne’s Nursery as it is not on the main drag. I’ll check out Wayne’s Nursery next time it’s up there. Good to know those nurseries that will sell plant material at near wholesale prices to individuals without a landscape horticultural license - understandably, not many that do that.

We bought three from bantings about five years ago. I don’t remember the price, but they weren’t cheap.

11 trees seems to be a reasonable size order. I wonder if a wholesale nursery would consider selling to you directly for an order that large? You could ask if you can find a nursery carrying what you are looking for. This guy in New Iberia May have them but he’s wholesale. Gerald Foret Nursery
You happen to know anyone that might have a horticultural landscape license? Some wholesale nurseries just require a license number, and not an account with their business. Bracy’s in Amite might have them, but again a wholesale only nursery.

Pretty Sure I spoke w/ Gerald Foret and they said no bc I wasn't a landscaper or local nursery.
All the places ive called are starting to run together. I shoulda taken notes but I made calls in the car and at work.

No they have trees. Tons and TONS of trees.
Call the head guy Marvin: (318) 880-1645
And have you ever dug and planted a tree bigger than 15 gallon? The 30+ gallon trees they have are ginormous. It would take a bobcat to plant those things correctly.
Wayne’s Nursery
403 Blue Lake Rd
Forest Hill LA 71430
