Roughly how much does a motorized gate cost in the BR area?

I'm talking 12' or 14' wide 6' tall cast-iron gate on the driveway that swings out with remote control.

No electrical installed yet, but I have a free 120v circuit that could be used.

I'm also curious how much harder it is to do the dual gate. The power line would need to run under the driveway. Is that a huge deal?

TIA

A good gate opener is almost 3k for a 2 arm opener. A good one. I like the lift master for quality. The set up is about 1500 and the install is about 1500. They do require a cord going across to the second arm.

Id think you could get someone to come in, run power, build and set up a nice gate, and put arms up for $7k turn key.

Electric gate opener installation is licensed by fire marshall. It’s a racket and not many are licensed in BR last time I looked at this (been a while)

My fence guy offered to weld the opener in the right place and mark where to tap it into the gate. Electric was on me to run and plug in.

I stuck with manual.

I decided to do it all myself. I bought the posts, gate and side panels from amazinggates.com LINK . They are still doing a 40% off sale on driveway gates. It cost me around $1.4K for a 10' gate and side panels. I bought the lift master gate arm online for a little over $1k. Then I'd estimate another $250 for concrete, conduit under driveway, electrical wire etc. assuming you have most of the tools you need. So $2,650 for materials.

It took me 3 weekends to install. First weekend was getting the conduit under the driveway (see my post in this thread LINK /) and installing electrical. Second weekend was digging post holes and setting posts in concrete. Third weekend mounting gate arm and controller and programming.

I see people talking about conduit in here. I installed one a couple months ago and the few small wires that I needed to get across the driveway were installed by using a concrete blade and I just cut a groove and sealed it. Could save you a little money if you decide to do that part yourself

You are a lot closer than most of this thread. A LOT is dependent on aluminum gate vs cast iron, single vs double, security, keypads, etc.

I went with custom double iron solid gate sections. Two 7’ sections. Hinges built into the brick columns due to gate weight. Commercial grade openers due to weight of the gates. Electro magnet security closure. Radio openers, pedastal keypad, magnetic drive over loop on the inside, battery backup.

Installed ran just north of $10k. I quickly figured out the sky is the limit on gates. I really wanted the cellular based opener and remote view cameras. Gave up on that when it was going to be another $2k plus cost of maintaining the cellular account.
