I know the summer weather likes to bring them indoors, but I feel like I'm seeing way more than I'm used to in my home. I haven't sprayed my perimeter yet, but I do have several Combat Max roach baits near areas where I find the roaches. I'm guessing the bait is doing its job? I generally only find them at night.

Are there better traps/baits to get rid of these assholes?

Best thing for roaches that I have ever seen is Bengal roach spray. Spray any place that has food or water and before you finish spraying, every one will stagger out and die before your eyes!

I treated my house years ago with a 3 step combination of spray, boric acid and a gel type paste that I was told to apply inside my kitchen cabinets where the face frame meets the carcass so it's out of the way and very discrete.

The spray was applied via a pump sprayer, the boric acid, which is a very fine powder was applied around electrical outlets and switches after the plates were removed and in any hard to reach crevices.

That did the trick. I did that over 30 years ago and haven't seen but a handful of roaches since and I was basically overrun with those small German Cockroaches when I first moved into this old house since it was abandoned for months before being bought by me.

I do spray an insecticide about once a year on the ground floor man cave and woodworking shop area but haven't spray the 2nd story living area in ages.

They're all in my kitchen area and the German roaches end up in the guest bathroom upstairs. I have at least 2 baits in the kitchen but I know I need one in the bathroom.

I usually spread Bifen granules on the outside perimeter and spray Talstar around foundation. Never seen a roach inside.

ETA: I try and do this every 4-6 months. At least 2 applications a year. No more than 3.

When I remodeled my old house in the garden district I filled every wall cavity with boric acid and dematiaceous earth. I never saw another roach in my house for the 3 years that I continued to live there. I also sprayed the outside parameter with permethrin twice a year.

Demon WP. This makes 4 gallons. Drop the whole packet into a sprayer and go to town.

There is your answer. Spray perimeter in and out. Suspend SC works as well.

Is this an outdoor only perimeter spray?

Can spray inside also. Same as Bifen. It does have more of a cloudy residue to it.

Suspend SC is excellent stuff, is pet safe and has no odor. For serious issues, you have to find/eliminate their food source as well as use other methods. Here's what we had to do at my grandma's house: treat outside perimeter with bifen, clean out all food cabinets/ panty, clean out under sinks, clean under range/cooktop, clean out trey under refrigerator, spray Suspend SC inside then apply Avert DF and Advion gel according to instructions. That fixed it and there hasn't been any issues there in many years. The issue ended up being all the little dropped bits of food in the pantry/cabinets and the overflow tray under the fridge.

boric acid and diatomaceous earth

These are great contact pesticides as long as they are very dry. Exposed to moisture or even high humidity greatly reduces effectiveness. Boric acid is also effective when ingested and is the active ingredient in many baits.

Just ordered some. Ill use my Orkin home defense now and wait to spray next week when it arrives. Would this be a bad idea?

I've found boric acid to be pretty effective. A light dusting is best.

Cheapest place I get it is the dollar store.

I've always had good results with Ortho home defense Max. Whenever I do see a roach it's already dead.

this, plus boric acid powder (or the boric acid roach pills) is the answer. Works like a champ and no poisons in your house.
