Removing stickers in my yard

I have about 2 acres and I have stickers everywhere. What’s the best treatment to get rid of them, as I now have a 1.5 year old that wants to explore the world

Whenever researching the topic, refer to the weed as “burweed” and you will find more answers.
Here is an LSUAg article [link=(LSU Ag Burweed )]https://www.lsuagcenter.com/topics/lawn_garden/commercial_horticulture/turfgrass/turfgrass-weeds/broadleaf-weeds/lawn-burweed[/link]
In summary, three step process:
A) keep your turf grass healthy ie. water, cut at correct height, fungicide, and fertilize. (If you have St. Aug. you are probably cutting it too short)
B) apply pre-emergent in fall and early spring. Prevents the weed seeds from germinating. Once you see the weeds, it’s too late for that year to fully control. Linked article has chemical options
C) post emergent. Kills existing weeds. Only killing “this years weeds”, still need a plan in place to prevent. A good chemical I’ve found is 2-4D, can be found at a local hardware store marketed as “fertilome weed free zone”. See linked article for other options

Get a jug of 2-4D and mix 2 ounces to the gallon and spray your yard. Stickers are already set for this year though. Spray again next Feb/March before stickers are formed.

Agree, this shite will blow up to 4 inches after a hard rain. You can’t control it with post emergent unless you go scorched earth. Better to plan for next year with pre emergent

24d will knock it back, but it's a losing battle and then you just have dead stickers.
For some reason it came out of nowhere this year. Have 20 acres and have never had a problem with it. My whole yard is covered now.
Going to keep knocking it back with 24d the pre emerg in the fall once and spring.

He'll figure out that exploring the world is best done with crocs on.

My 3 year old granddaughter will concur.

Burrs will stick in crocs and everything. Burrs need to be eliminated.
Do the things.
Little pre emergent in the fall and some post emergent in the spring.

You will have to deal with stickers for this year, as they are already on the plants. The best thing you can do is fertilize and water your lawn this year.
Next year, there will be a time in late winter when stickers (and clover) are greening up, but the grsss is still dormant. It will occur for about 1-2 weeks. That is when you’ll need to spray 2-4D.
They are pretty easy to control, but when you need to kill them it’s tough to think about it because the stickers haven’t formed yet.
