Recommendation for exterminator company to seal openings for roof rats?

I have a health problem right now so I cannot get into a crawl space under the house nor get on the roof nor in the attic to inspect. I need a reputable company to inspect and seal any openings. I set up a camera and captured a roof rat coming in from under my dishwasher to eat part of a banana that was left on a wire fruit basket in the kitchen. I will use a snap trap tonight. I know that where there is one rat there are more. Do you recommend poison in the crawl space? Other advice? This is very alarming. I have never experienced this in the 40 years I have lived here.

Get some D con. They will eat it and go look for water and die

This stuff, Just One Bite II works to silence the rats and mice. They love eating it.
But you need to seal up, as you suggest. The problem is that when you see one, there are 50 you do not see.

Your profile says near Zachary. Don’t know anyone around there but someone here might.
I recently had my house painted and the painter sealed up a lot of small openings along the roof line and replaced some rotten boards. We have a crawl space under a section of the house and I covered all openings with wire mesh. Those two, and the rat poison did the job for us. Haven’t heard anything in the attic for more than a year.

quote:I caught one in a snap trap last summer in my attic. I've left 3 snap traps up there throughout the year since. Yesterday I caught another one. I dont think I have a bunch of others up there. I hear nothing in the attic, see only a few droppings and nothing seems chewed up. Had one in the garage months ago because the door was open at times during the night. I saw the obvious damage it was doing. It took 4 nights to catch it in a trap. Left more traps in there and haven't caught anything since.

Just noted from a prior thread that OP has a manufactured home. That makes it more likely that she may have an occasional intruder that lives outside rather than a nesting issue.
Sounds like she’s already on the right path looking for someone to look for openings and seal them up.

If you have a source of water in the walls, sure.

I looked it up...

The truth is that no rodenticide will cause rats or mice to leave a structure after consuming it. Rats do need to drink water, but the last thing on a rats mind after it has consumed a lethal dose of anticoagulant will be to go for a stroll down to the local rodent watering hole.
If using rodenticides indoors there is always the risk that the rodent will die somewhere inaccessible and cause a bad smell

I don’t think he crosses the Basin. He’s in demand on this side to the point that we had to wait 7 months for the job to begin. He’s good.
