If you have 1/2 an acre, it's going to take you 90min or more of just mowing time with a normal walk behind mower. I did it for years. In contrast, about 30min or less with a 42" ZTR. Food for thought.

Honda HRX217 as most have said. It's as good as it gets for a homeowner.

I have had my Snapper commercial for almost 20 years. Would never buy anything else.

I bought a Honda 21" self propelled about 12 years ago and it's still going strong. Besides changing out blades, tires, filter, a couple of carburetors, and the usual maintenance with oil and plugs - the sucker still keeps starting up.

It's kind of bizarre, actually. Because before that, I went on a run of buying a new mower every 2/3 years. So if you want something to last a long time, go with the Honda.

Push mower recs

OP asked about push mower, but I think every rec I've seen in here was for a self propelled mower. Can you still get a push mower without the self propel option? I'm looking for a new push mower but I don't want one that is self propelled

plenty sell a non self propelled version. if you're going that route, i'd honestly just get a cheapo Murray from Walmart. will easily last you a decade no problem.

That's what I'm replacing. I've been using a Murray I got from my stepdad since 2010, and it was pretty used when I got it.

I have a Honda like the one pictured in the first page. I have had it for about 3 years now and it works well. So much easier to crank than my past Husqvarna mower.
