I'm going to be buying a portable Duel Fuel generator and will run it with propane.
I have a buried propane tank that supplies my house (water heater, stove top).

What connection will be required for me to go from generator to house line?

The generator is intended to be run with a propane bottle, so I will need to transition some how? I'm thinking a quick disconnect on the house line.
Thoughts or ideas?

Propane costs are through the roof right now. When's the last time you filled your tank? If not in a while, you may be in for a surprise.

My neighbor told me he filled 7 regular 5 gallon tanks the other day and it came to just over $220.

I just had one filled two days ago. It’s definitely going up. I paid $17.00 for 4.9 gallons

You’ll need a branch/tee installed on your propane line, with a valve and quick connect (or nipple for future connection).

Then you’ll need a propane hose that will connect to the generator (typically a quick connect) and to the new house (either threaded or quick connect).

There’s been several threads recently on companies that sell generator conversion kits, hoses, and quick connects.

I ordered my kit and hoses from PNG Technologies.

I just filled mine up to 90%. It was 2.65/gallon. Yep big jump from last year. 80 - 90 cents from last year.

THanks LSUtigerME.
So I'm not real sure how the lines connect to the generator. I'm assuming it is threaded.

I'll definitely do a quick connect at the house, so I'll that added and then I need to find out what size line the generator has.

It is a PITA trying to find a big dual fuel generator. You find the Duramax's but those are gas hogs.

How big is the generator you bought? Line size may matter.

We do this at our camp, I’ll try to get some pictures tomorrow of the set up.
I don’t know a whole lot about it, my father in law hooked it up

DMAN,
I have not bought it yet.
I can't find what a I want, which is a Westinghouse WGEN20000, with 2x 50amp receptacles.

So I may end up getting a 10kw - 15kw for the time being.

Sorry for all the different replies but be this is it. Pretty basic connections. Hard piped to that little box with a shut off. Then it’s a regulated hose with another shut off valve, to another hose to generator.
I don’t know what kind of regulator that is but I think he bought it Amazon . Hope this helps

I just paid less than $15 for 4.6 gallons in a tank. Sounds like your neighbor needs to find a new spot to have his tanks filled.

Thank Metarie.
So my inground propane tank has a regulator. I guess I can go from the home regulated line straight to the generator.
