Buddy of mine was working for a couple of different landscaping companies before he went out on his own. I wanted to throw some work his way. Long story but I need to do something about moisture in the basement after big rains and he came out to give me a quote today on a French drain. He said around 40 feet of pipe then he would connect that to solid pipe to save some costs. Around another 40 feet there. Basically taking it from the high side of my yard down the slope to my driveway. Going to be around 1,500. Seemed reasonable to me but wanted to get some opinions from someone who has had something similar done.

Thanks. $26 a foot installed on the French drain piping and $10 on the solid. He’s going to use 6 inch instead of 4. Seemed reasonable I just wanted to make sure.

Don't skimp. Go solid perforated, with a sock, all the way.

Definitely do the smoothpipe with perforated and have him put in a couple of cleanouts.
