Pressure washing tips?

Do I need to pre-treat/spray with a bleach solution? Use a brush with bleach solution to loosen? Is it necessary to use an added solution in the pressure washer? I did an online search and found things like this recommended but didn’t know if it was really needed. This is for vinyl siding.

Depends on how bad it is but Jomax and/or bleach definitely doesn’t hurt.
I’ve never used a brush I just mix up a detergent in a pump up sprayer and follow behind with the pressure washer

Try it out with just the pressure washer first. I have done a good bit of pressure washing and have never used any soaps or solutions.

Jomax and bleach in a pump sprayer normally makes it just drip off for me. I wash it with the hose afterwards

What he said. I use a pressure washer behind the Jomax/bleach solution in a pump sprayer because I have a large 2 story house. If your house is only 1 story, a regular hose will be good.

I only use Jomax and bleach when I rinse with just the hose, like on the side of the house. When I power wash the deck or cement, I don’t use anything but water. I also picked up one of those disc sprayers from Northern Tools and it works well on cement. I power washed the entire pool deck and back porch today.

Depends on the severity of grime on the siding. I’d start with a small patch on inconspicuous part of the house bleach vs no bleach and see what happens. Remember you can always up the pressure, better to not shoot a hole straight through your vinyl. I did this to a clients house the morning before an open house a few years ago

Jomax with bleach works well on vinyl siding. If it's heavy mildew/grim, Lowes sells a product called 30 seconds. It has a higher concentration of bleach already in it....so the mildew melts away. Do NOT spray vinyl at higher pressures, especially if its old. You are asking for trouble.

99+% of the pros use a dilute liquid pool chlorine solution with a surfactant that makes it stick a little better. Do not use any kind of soap or detergent with phosphates or the mold/mildew will come back much faster and worse.
2 gallons regular laundry bleach
2 gallons water
3-4 tbsp of dawn
Spray on with a pump sprayer, let sit 3-5 minutes and spray it off.
If you have a lot of spiderwebs, you may have to bump it up to 3 gallons bleach to 1 gallon water.
