Wife is looking to upgrade our tree to something bigger. We have 10ft ceilings so essentially, we're looking for something 9ft.

Lowes has a GE model I really like.

GE 9-ft Cedar Rock Fir Pre-lit Traditional Artificial Christmas Tree with LED Lights

All 3 of my local stores are sold out, and the only way to get it is through an online order.

They've got more brands, but I feel like they're "off-brand" or "cheap" brands. Reviews have them with sections of lights going bad. I figured with at least the GE brand, they'd be a bit more reliable.

the ones i see people have, they never look good after a year or two.

when you save it, the branches will get smashed and mushed up, and then the fiber optic lights just dont look like they are supposed to anymore after that

they do look nice in the stores though

Balsam Hill is top of the line.

That's what we have.

Do you have one of the flip trees? I loathe taking the tree out of the box and having to shape the branches.

No its not a flip up. It comes in three pieces.

Glad when it's up and wife is happy.
Glad when it's down and I am happy.

I finally broke down and got a premium flip tree from Balsam Hill. Now it’s ridiculously expensive but wow, I’m very impressed by the looks and quality. It took me forever to fluff the damn thing because it has so many branches and bits to fluff, but now it looks incredible. Definitely worth the investment, and the ease of the flip base being on wheels, will be super easy to store.

I second this. I hate that I spent so much on it, but...

1. I don't have to vacuum every time we put it up or someone touches it and all of the fake stuff falls off

2. I don't have to try to figure out how to plug all of the plugs in to make it all light up. It all runs through the pole in the middle

If it last me a few good years I'll consider it money well spent. It does look nice too and the wife is pleased for what that's worth.

Anyone with a 7.5'+ fat tree have any storage tips? This Balsam tree is too wide to put into totes.

We have a 9 or 10 foot one.

It came with two bags and we store it in our garage.

Brother’s mother in law has a flip tree. They had a slight quality control issue a few years ago- I wasn’t the one who fixed it, but theirs came unable to be flipped until her husband found a pin/screw/bolt that was in backwards or something to that effect. Someone else who has bought one at the same time has a lighting problem (either only half came on or the color/white side was out…I forget)

As far as a company goes, I’ve had some slow shipping times with them.
Their products are expensive, but they really are the best.
My front door is decked in their Apple Spice garland, wreaths, and topiaries. At Halloween I have their plastic cat/dog ghosts for my front porch. I get tons of comments on how good it looks. I have a couple of their hanging baskets for spring/summer.

I have no problem recommending the quality and how great their products are. I will buy a flip tree from them next (I’ve got a Costco one now- looks great, but I hate the 5 sections and stuffing them into a bag each year that wouldn’t take up any less space than the flip-up and would, presumably, keep straighter branches for longer).
This will be Year 5 on the Costco tree. It’s still going strong, I have no intention of replacing it for quality, but when it goes, a Balsam Hill flip tree is at the top of the list to replace it.

We bought a 9 footer about 15 years ago. Sections of lights started to fail after a couple of years. Each year, another section would go out. Had to string our own lights every year to fill in the holes. The convenience of having a “prelit” tree was negated. Those big trees also require a ton of storage space.

Having said all that, costwise, the tree was about the same price as buying a real tree at $80ish each year over the time it lasted.

No sure if you've noted the price of real trees that size lately. We have a 10 ft. ceiling and every year get about a 10 ft. tree, they run between $250-$300 that size now (in metro New Orleans).

You are correct. When we get real, we settle for something in the 6-7 foot range.

I did the same until I got a 20% off coupon. It was still expensive, but worth what I paid over what I've had in the past.
