I plan to put down some pre-emergent this weekend as well. Is it too late to do some winter weed cocktail on a handful of clovers that are still lurking?

Celsius would do the trick? I didn't think it was effective in low temps.

I put mine down today. Going on vacation in a few days so I had to put it down now.

Though it’s safe in very hot weather, it’s also effective in cooler weather, it just works slower, as most systemic herbicides would in cool weather. Apply it on a “warm” afternoon.

Is Lesco Stonewall (Prodiamine) or Dimension (dithiopyr) better as a pre-emergent granule?

dithiopyr - Spring
prodiamine - Fall

Certainly not. You can use the winter weed cocktail at temperatures into the low 80s, provided it’s not a greened up Bermudagrass lawn (i.e., can’t use Atrazine on non-dormant Bermudagrass).

No, I would apply the pre-emergent. Approaching a year since the sod was laid.

Thanks! Would there be any negatives to applying Simazine? That's what I have on hand.

Thanks for the clarification. Its Zoysia so I'll put it down this weekend.

As a pre-emergent? Off the top of my head, I don’t see an issue if that’s what you have. Simazine is a better pre-emergent than post-emergent herbicide. Ronk, who is a professional in this field, favors using Simazine in the fall, likely b/c it’s very effective on annual bluegrass (Poa annua), using other pre-emergents in the late winter-early spring. If ronk enters the thread, I’m sure he’ll correct me….lol.

Here is the Simazine label, read the turf grass section and see what you think.

Thanks!
I think it looks pretty good considering my usual weeds are crabgrass and sedges, which can't be prevented.

Anyone know where I can buy the Lesco Dimension online… doesn’t look like Home Depot or Lowe’s has it in my area and didn’t have any luck looking on Amazon‘s app?

you might have better luck finding Hi-Yield dimension (granular). I see that bag on shelves frequently and have never seen a bag of lesco dimension.

I was going to do the preemergent treatment this weekend before a big rain that's moving in. But my soil temps are already in the 60's. Am I too late or will it still help some? Also thought about trying a split treatment this year instead of all at once.

60s is your 5-day average?

It definitely would've been better to get it down before now but I think it still may help. I've learned over the last few years of maintaining my yard that getting pre-emergent down a bit early is always better than a bit late.

I'm doing a split application, so I put mine down on 1/30 and I plan on doing my 2nd application around end of March / first of April.
