Pipe Heating Cable (“heat tracing”) for Freeze

I know it’s a little late now but wanted to share with the group - working in the industrial sphere I wondered if there was a residential version of heat tracing to keep pipes above freezing. Found something simple online but I bet Lowe’s has something similar:
LINK
It has a built-in thermostat and will warm up when approaching freezing and will shut off when at a certain upper limit. Wrap this on the pipe, tape/zip tie, then cover in insulation.
Good luck in the freeze everyone.

just FYI for whoever uses these...your electric bill will be higher than giraffe pussy after using them
used them in Alaska and it would easily jump an electric bill $100-200 for a couple days usage

The heat cable he linked only draws 3 watts a linear foot. He could run 100 ft 24/7 for a month and it would cost about $33 @ .15 a kilowatt hour or about $1.00 a day. He may only need 10ft which would cost pennies per day.

I have 2 on my hose bibs and a third just delivered yesterday. I ran those two for years and never had any spike in electricity. Out of curiosity, I tented one of my faucets with a piece of mylar. reflective insulation and tossed my wifi BBQ thermometer in there. Worked like a champ, you could watch the cycles on the graph.

If it's like standard heat tape/wrap don't loop over itself. Keep it a single layer and never allow the tape to cross itself. They don't last long that way.

Funny you mentioned this. Someone we know just told me about these and I almost asked if you were the one that got him set up with it…
