Another zoysia question.
Have some spots doing great/super thick and others still thin/ lighter color. Do I need more patience, dethatch or something else?
Any help is appreciated.

Looks like aeration could be what’s needed most.
Can you easily stick a screw driver 6” into the lighter spots?

If not, rent a core aerator.

Have you ever aerated?

Have not aerated this year but have in past years. That could be it.
Passed the screwdriver test.

Yes, fert 16-0-8 mid April.

hmmm...

And you are mowing frequently around 1-2" ?
I'm starting to believe Ronk in that Zoysia does what it wants...

ph levels too high??
This would prevent the grass from receiving all the nutrients you've given it.

Yes, cutting short and 2x per week.

Not sure of ph.

Maybe I need more patience or lower expectation of the zoysia. I'd like to level with some sand but am worried some of the thin spots will get worse with that.

Appreciate the responses.

I would hit it with an iron product.

Zoysia loves to be cut short. Maybe do a scalp and try raking up dead spots.

this. Gotta scalp it every now and then. I'd bet good money if you scalped it and raked it, it would be beautiful again in 2-3 weeks time depending on rain.

After it gets back, hit it with some triple 13.

It’s still early. If it looks like that in July then you got a problem. Looks like you hit some dog piss spots also
