Old vehicles and the junk yard

I have a 2002 f150 that has a destroyed transmission. I was thinking about donating it somewhere. Is there any other options for getting rid of it or should I just tow it to the scrap metal yard

Most of those parts yards will pick it up and pay you for it.

I sold a 2002 F150 with a blown motor to Shreiver Auto Parts, they came pick it up on a flatbed wrecker and cut me a check for $500.

I’ll have to check into that
go to pull-a-part website and they will quote you a price
you will get a couple hundred for it
they took my old 07 volvo, without a hood or front end on it, and no title or paperwork for it, and paid me $400 scrap value for it
they have locations in BR, lafayette, and new orleans

Do you have Pull A Part junk yard in your area?
They will dispatch the tow truck and pay you for it. How much, depends on vehicle

If your just looking to get rid of it, Pull-a-part is the way to go and get a couple hundred for it. For what it is worth, I sold a 2005 F-150 with major front end damage for $3500 in les than a week using facebook marketplace and craigslist. Might be worth looking into.

Tip for the pull-a-part places: Call the number and get a quote. When the driver gets there he's going to try to negotiate it down. Refuse his lowball and insist upon the quoted price. He's made the trip already and not going to leave without the vehicle.

I had a ten year old Subaru that completely ate the valves. Pieces fell out of the engine when they took the valve cover off. I was there.
I got online to one of those "we will buy your damaged vehicle" sites. I was thinking I could get $500 maybe. I filled out the online forms and was brutally honest about the condition of the vehicle. The exterior was rough and the interior was a mess. (Commuter work vehicle)
I was shocked when they gave me $2250 and came and put it on a roll back. Frankly, I thought the check would bounce or something but didn't care as the car was gone. Nope, money in the bank. I would Google a couple of those places and take the hour to fill out their forms and see what happens.
