My radiator is full of water so...

And I'm in Baton Rouge.
Should I top it off with antifreeze and would that be safe enough for the upcoming hard freeze? Or should I be sure to go get a radiator flush and have them fill it up with antifreeze? Not sure how much that costs, etc..
Any guidance appreciated, thank you.

I wouldn't touch a flush if not recommended by your vehicle manufacturer. Drain half the water out into your driveway , fill with antifreeze.

Ok, it's a volvo SUV which is pretty different than the chevy blazer I last did this similar process on. I reckon the drain plug is at the bottom of the radiator where it generally should be? I'm going to see if I can get a light on it and access it okay...

Pull the bottom hose off if you can't find valve or it looks fragile.

Man there's some kind of metal plate covering up the bottom of the radiator so it's not real straightforward to access this thing. I'll look on Youtube

You can try topping it off and use an antifreeze tester to see if the ratio is sufficient. If not then drain some and add antifreeze.

I don’t think either of my vehicles have an antifreeze drain plug/screw, i’d have to pull the bottom line off and drain the whole system. Maybe get a hand or battery pump from harbor freight and pump some out from the top if possible. The antifreeze tester I mentioned can be found at any auto parts store or Walmart.

Oh yeah the tester itself does have a squeeze to suck some of the water out do you think would that work?

Better then nothing I guess. I don't see you getting a massive amount of water out. Some antifreeze is better then none. You can maybe squeeze the hoses with the cap off and see if some comes out.

Take a drill and drill a 1/2" hole on bottom of radiator to drain easier, Buy a 1/2" drain plug. screw it in and can of FLex-Seal. Add half water/antifreeze mixture. No leak? Good to go! Leak? Flex Seal. Good to go! Or just Flex seal the 1/2" hole!

Start the car and take cap off radiator. Let temperature come up and the water pressure will push the water out of the radiator. Obviously, don’t let the car run hot before shutting it off and then adding coolant.

Or you could just siphon it out of the top manually without running the vehicle.
The more important question why is it 100% water? This doesn’t make any sense?

At the bottom left or right corner of the radiator is a valve used by backyard and Pro mechanics to drain the radiator. Crawl underneath. Locate the valve and drain what you wish too. Run the engine until the water runs hot and bubbles out ...yeah, right.

He’s right though. I’m no car engineer or anything but isn’t that the main purpose of antifreeze....to anti-freeze the radiator? The only reason I can think of to not use anti freeze is if you had a leak and filled it with water. But at some point you gotta know you need to change it back.
